Laws – License Regulations

Laws – License regulations by state

Highlights: State licensing regulations for telebehavioral health can be difficult to find. The primary reason is lack of consistency among states and professions on terminology used for online services. While telebehavioral health has existed for more than 50 years, states have only recently created regulations, due to the increase in the use of technology-based services. The primary goal of telebehavioral health regulations is to ensure safe and effective treatment for those located in the state’s jurisdiction. Keep in mind that regulations pertaining to those located in the state at the time of service may not be related to the patient/client’s permanent residence.
